Hungarian painter Budapest, June 25, 1889 - Budapest, July 23, 1947 Ágoston Ács [born Ascher Ágoston] (Budapest, June 25, 1889 - Budapest, July 23, 1947) was a Hungarian painter, metalworker, and sculptor. He was one of the greatest and most prolific painters of rural life in the interwar period. Born as the son of Antal Ascher and Katalin Beck. He initially started working as a metalworker, but due to health reasons, he had to abandon this profession, which led him to delve deeper into painting. He studied at the School of Applied Arts under the guidance of Samu Hibján and István Gróh. He exhibited several times at the Palace of Art. On June 28, 1913, he married Katalin Margit Hetényi in Budapest. On January 21, 1919, he remarried, marrying Mária Petz in Budapest. His death was caused by myocardial infarction. Since 1939, he has had several exhibitions at the Palace of Art. His distinctive rural themes, features, brushwork, and color applications are recognizable. His paintings have appeared at art auctions both in Hungary and abroad.
